PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE MEMORY OF HENRY RAYMOND STINSON
WHEREAS, Henry Raymond Stinson was born in Meridian, Mississippi on April 26, 1925 to Homer R. Stinson and Mary Savannah Blackwell Stinson; and
WHEREAS, he was the youngest of seven children, three sisters (Pearl, Lillian, and Louise) and three brothers (Leo, Frank, and Homer), all of whom preceded him in death; and
WHEREAS, soon after his birth, his family moved to Chicago and Henry Stinson attended Edmond Burke Elementary School and Du Sable High School; and
WHEREAS, he enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17 and quickly attained the rank of sergeant; and
WHEREAS, Henry Stinson was a proud and outstanding member of the National Council of Meridianites, Inc., a social organization originally made up of individuals born in Meridian, Mississippi, since its inception in 1967; and
WHEREAS, Henry Stinson in admiration for his father’s spirit for business, followed in his father’s footsteps and established the Royal Answering Service, whose motto was “Where every customer is King” in the 1970s; and
WHEREAS, shortly after beginning his working career in the United States Post Office, he became a Chicago Police Officer; and
WHEREAS, he worked in several police districts and in various units including Neighborhood Relations, Human Relations, and Special Events; and
WHEREAS, he participated in yearly charitable events and organized the annual Chicago Police Picnic; and
WHEREAS, Henry Stinson’s strong belief in being an honest individual and police officer endeared him to the local businesses and residents in the areas that he served; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stinson’s service to his community continued even after completing his work day by delivering baskets of food to those individuals less fortunate; and
WHEREAS, his dedication to serving the people of Chicago is well documented by the numerous awards and accommodations bestowed upon him during his 34 year career; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stinson’s enduring love and commitment to his Wife, his children and his grandchildren shall forever be remembered; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners that Cook County shall recognize and honor Mr. Henry Raymond Stinson in celebration of his life and accomplishments; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Cook County Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. Henry Raymond Stinson.
