Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE JOINT BIRTHDAYS OF THE HONORABLE STEVE BERNSTEIN AND THE HONORABLE JEANNE CLEVELAND BERNSTEIN WHO TOGETHER HAVE ACHIEVED 140 YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED YOUTH WHEREAS, on Sunday March 6, 2016 the Honorable Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and the Honorable Steven James Bernstein will celebrate the joyous combined total of 140 years; and WHEREAS, Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and Steven Bernstein share an affection for the law, both have been practicing law for a combined total of 88 years and both graduated from DePaul University Law School in 1971 where they met; and WHEREAS, Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and Steven Bernstein are the unique couple who successfully lived and worked together; the two shared a law practice for over 30 years; and WHEREAS, Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and Steven Bernstein share an affection and the wisdom necessary to be effective administers of justice; both are Circuit Judges in Cook County and have been on the bench for...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

HONORING THE JOINT BIRTHDAYS OF THE HONORABLE STEVE BERNSTEIN AND THE HONORABLE JEANNE CLEVELAND BERNSTEIN WHO TOGETHER HAVE ACHIEVED 140 YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED YOUTH

 

WHEREAS, on Sunday March 6, 2016 the Honorable Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and the Honorable Steven James Bernstein will celebrate the joyous combined total of 140 years; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and Steven Bernstein share an affection for the law, both have been practicing law for a combined total of 88 years and both graduated from DePaul University Law School in 1971 where they met; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and Steven Bernstein are the unique couple who successfully lived and worked together; the two shared a law practice for over 30 years; and 

 

WHEREAS, Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and Steven Bernstein share an affection and the wisdom necessary to be effective administers of justice; both are Circuit Judges in Cook County and have been on the bench for a combined total of nearly 16 years; and 

 

WHEREAS, Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and Steven Bernstein share an affection for their children, Timon Jandora, Claire Lawrence and Iden Bernstein-Nowlin.  They are proud grandparents of Gavin, Eleanor, Raymond, Harper, Everett and Arleigh; and  

 

WHEREAS, Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and Steven Bernstein share an affection and a knack for politics, both were Democratic Committeeman; Steven was Evanston Alderman for the 4th Ward for 16 years and was the Evanston Township Assessor; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and Steven Bernstein are treasured members of the community.  They were very active members of the District 65 PTA, Booster Clubs at Evanston Township High School, the YMCA, the YWCA, Justin Wynn Foundation and the Warren Cherry Scholarship Foundation.  Because of their enlightened leadership they have brought success to countless community events; and 

 

WHEREAS, Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and Steven Bernstein were married on April 26, 1973. In addition to sharing an affection and admiration for one another they also love to travel.  They have lived in Afghanistan, India, Nepal and Evanston.  Together they will celebrate together their 140 years of combined years on March 6, 2016; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners of Cook County, on behalf of the 5.2 million residents of Cook County takes great pleasure in honoring and celebrating the successful completion of a combined total of 140 years achieved by Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and Steve Bernstein and herewith expresses its sincere gratitude for the contributions the organization and it members have made to the citizens of Cook County, Illinois; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body and that an official copy of the same be tendered to Jeanne Cleveland Bernstein and Steve Bernstein.end
