RECOGNIZING KATYA NUQUES FOR HER CONTINUED DEDICATION TO THE COMMUNITIES OF COOK COUNTY IN HONOR OF WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH

WHEREAS, March is Women's History Month in which we not only highlight the contributions of women in history but also in contemporary society; and

WHEREAS, Katya Nuques was born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador; and

WHEREAS, Katya Nuques received a Master in Science of Administration (MSA) in International and Community Development from Andrews University after completing an internship with the United Nations Sustainable Development Division in New York; and

WHEREAS, after graduation, Katya Nuques moved to Lima, Per? to serve as the project coordinator for the Adventist Development and Relief Agency in Per?; and

WHEREAS, Katya Nuques' enthusiasm for community involvement drove her to promote participatory approaches in processes such as strategic planning, grant writing and evaluation; and

WHEREAS, Katya Nuques, through her work in international aid work was able to diversify and substantially increase partnerships with multilateral and bilateral cooperation agencies, resulting in a much more diverse project portfolio; and

WHEREAS, Katya Nuques began her calling at Enlace Chicago in 2005 as the Director of Community Schools where she played a substantial role in the expansion of Enlace's community schools network, significantly increasing staff and funding levels and diversifying revenue sources; and

WHEREAS, as Enlace's Director of Education, a role she assumed in 2007, she expanded the organization's involvement in teacher preparation programs, internships and post-secondary access, and led Enlace's participation in coalitions such as the Illinois Federation of Community Schools; and
