PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING JOSEPH J. PELLUS ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE WINNETKA POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Joseph J. Pellus retired from the Winnetka Police Department on April 17, 2016 after over thirty years as a law enforcement officer; and
WHEREAS, Joseph J. Pellus began his career as a law enforcement officer with the Elk Grove Village Police Department in 1985 and became a Patrol Officer with the Winnetka Police Department on April 16, 1986; and
WHEREAS, Joseph J. Pellus was appointed to the position of Detective on February 21, 1994; and
WHEREAS, Joseph J. Pellus was appointed to the position of Police Liaison Officer at New Trier High School on August 18, 1997; and
WHEREAS, Joseph J. Pellus was awarded Police Officer of the Year for 1999; and
WHEREAS, Joseph J. Pellus was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on November 01, 1999; and
WHEREAS, Joseph J. Pellus attended and graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command on December 01, 2000; and
WHEREAS, Joseph J. Pellus was promoted to the rank of Commander on September 22, 2006; and
WHEREAS, Joseph J. Pellus was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief on August 17, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Joseph J. Pellus attended and graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy on March 28, 2014; and
WHEREAS, during his lengthy career Joseph J. Pellus served as a member of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Services Team, the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force, served in the capacity of a Crime Prevention Officer, Field Training Officer and was recognized by his superiors and the citizens he served, receiving numerous Honorable Mentions and letters of appreciation from citizens; and
WHEREAS, Joseph J. Pellus served his department, community, and the people of Cook County with distinction; and
