PROPOSED RESOLUTION
RECOGNIZING THE 100TH BIRTHDAY OF THE HONORABLE ANTHONY "TONY" YUKICH
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Cook County Board of Commissioners that Anthony "Tony" Yukich is celebrating his 100th Birthday on March 17, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Anthony "Tony" Yukich is known lovingly to family, friends, and neighbors as "The Godfather," "The Mayor" and "The Dean Martin of Evergreen Park"; and
WHEREAS, Anthony "Tony" Yukich was raised in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago and was a member of St. Jerome Croatian Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS, Anthony "Tony" Yukich married the late Fran and became father to Jim, Bill and the late Bob; and
WHEREAS, Anthony "Tony" Yukich moved to Evergreen Park in 1957 and became an active member of the United Homeowners of Evergreen Park Party in 1960; and
WHEREAS, Anthony "Tony" Yukich was appointed to the Zoning Board of the Village of Evergreen Park in 1964 and was elected Village Trustee in 1967; and
WHEREAS, Anthony "Tony" Yukich worked diligently to secure land on the 9000 block of South Kedzie and establish a park with athletic fields, a walking track, a pond and an ice rink for the families and children of the Village of Evergreen Park to enjoy; and
WHEREAS, In recognition for his hard work on behalf of the citizens of Evergreen Park the Village dedicated the park to Anthony "Tony" Yukich and his wife Fran on April 28, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Anthony "Tony" Yukich has served the residents of the Village of Evergreen Park with honor and distinction for over 50 years; and therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby extend its warmest wishes and congratulations to Anthony "Tony" Yukich on the occasion of his 100th Birthday, and join all who have had the pleasure of his friendship in wishing him still more years of good health and richly deserved happiness, and
