Green was born on January 18, 1923 in Canton, Mississippi to the union of Eddie and Mary Lee Escho; and WHEREAS, Hattie is one of six children. Hattie attended Camon Elementary School and Canton High School in Canton, Mississippi; and WHEREAS, Hattie moved to Chicago at the age of sixteen, and continued her education at Chicago State University; and WHEREAS, Hattie worked for various companies around the Chicago area. Hattie decided to retire from the Seeburg Corporation Company after eighteen years of service; and WHEREAS, Hattie Green was married to Frank Green for thirty-two years; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Hattie Green has lived in the Auburn Gresham community within the 4th district for more than fifty-years; and WHEREAS, Hattie is currently an active block club member with the 8700 So. PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

RECOGNIZING HATTIE GREEN FOR HER LONGEVITY OF LIFE IN THE AUBURN GRESHAM COMMUNITY WITHIN THE 4TH DISTRICT OF COOK COUNTY

 

WHEREAS, Hattie M. Green was born on January 18, 1923 in Canton, Mississippi to the union of Eddie and Mary Lee Escho; and

 

WHEREAS, Hattie is one of six children. Hattie attended Camon Elementary School and Canton High School in Canton, Mississippi; and

 

WHEREAS, Hattie moved to Chicago at the age of sixteen, and continued her education at Chicago State University; and

 

WHEREAS, Hattie worked for various companies around the Chicago area. Hattie decided to retire from the Seeburg Corporation Company after eighteen years of service; and

 

WHEREAS, Hattie Green was married to Frank Green for thirty-two years; and

 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Hattie Green has lived in the Auburn Gresham community within the 4th district for more than fifty-years; and

 

WHEREAS, Hattie is currently an active block club member with the 8700 So. Bishop Block Club; and

 

WHEREAS, Hattie was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church for over 60 years, before she joined Love of Christ Baptist Church in 2011 where she remains an active member; and

 

WHEREAS, Hattie Green is 94 years of age and the matriarch of her family. She is the longest living of all her siblings and children; and

 

WHEREAS, Hattie’s motto is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”; and

 

WHEREAS, Hattie Green is dearly loved by her family, friends and neighbors, for her kindness, generosity, and caring spirit; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, shall honor Mrs. Hattie Green for her commitment and dedication to the Auburn Gresham community within the 4th district.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the cook county clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to be presented to Hattie Green in recognition of this important milestone.
