PROPOSED RESOLUTION
RECOGNIZING INEZ DELOIS SMITH WILBON FOR HER LONGEVITY OF LIFE IN THE SOUTH SHORE COMMUNITY WITHIN THE 4TH DISTRICT OF COOK COUNTY
WHEREAS, Inez Delois Smith Wilbon was the fourth of twelve children, born to Willie and Rebecca Smith in Arkansas City, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, On July 12, 1923. Inez graduated from East Carroll Parish High School; and
WHEREAS, Inez relocated to Chicago in 1943, and begin working at Hump Hair Pin Company; and
WHEREAS, In 1945 Inez married Johnnie Wilbon, and inherited four wonderful children in addition to their daughter; and
WHEREAS, In 1952 Inez went to work for Schulz and Burch Biscuit Company and retired after 33 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Inez is an active member of New Nazareth Baptist Church, and has been a member for 61 years; and
WHEREAS, Inez was crowned Prom Queen of New Nazareth Baptist Church in 2013, and will forever hold this title. She lives and is an active member in her community for 61 years; and
WHEREAS, Inez comes from a family of entrepreneurs, that was spearheaded by her father’s teachings; and
WHEREAS, Inez has a wonderful group of grandchildren who cares for her, and she loves them dearly. She calls her eldest grandchild Harold Wilbon her right hand. He is there for her every beck and call; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, shall honor Mrs. Inez Delois Smith Wilbon for her commitment and dedication to the South Shore community within the 4th district; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Cook County Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to be presented to Inez Delois Smith Wilbon in recognition of this important milestone.
