Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN MEMORY OF JAMES W. RYAN WHEREAS, James W. Ryan's long legal career was exceptional for many reasons; he was one of the longest serving Assistant States Attorneys, one of the longest serving Staff Attorneys for the Circuit Court of Cook County, but it was his integrity and wisdom that made him a treasured member of the bar and the community. When he died at the age at age 81 he left behind a devoted family, countless friends, colleagues and a community enriched for having known him; and WHEREAS, while a leader at the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, James Ryan set the highest standards for integrity. During his long tenure as a Cook County Assistant States Attorney he was uniformly regarded as one who deeply respected the office and will long be remembered for his thorough work and his high ethical standards and professionalism. WHEREAS, James W. Ryan's long legal career was exceptional for many reasons; he was one of the longest serving Assistant States Attorneys, one of the longest serving Staff Attorneys for the Circuit Court of Cook County, but it was his integrity and wisdom that made him a treasured member of the bar and the community. When he died at the age at age 81 he left behind a devoted family, countless friends, colleagues and a community enriched for having known him; and

WHEREAS, while a leader at the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, James Ryan set the highest standards for integrity. During his long tenure as a Cook County Assistant States Attorney he was uniformly regarded as one who deeply respected the office and will long be remembered for his thorough work and his high ethical standards and professionalism. Above all, he will be remembered as a model of kindness and affability; and

WHEREAS, James W. Ryan enjoyed a lengthy and distinguished legal career. He was genuinely admired and respected by his fellow lawyers and gave generously of his time to better the profession; he was an active member of the Chicago Bar Association for over fifty years. He served on the Domestic Relations Committee where he was appointed secretary, vice chair and chairman. For over a decade he was a member of the Chicago Bar Association's Legislative Committee and was Chairman of the Domestic Relations Legislative Committee. He served on the Screening Committee that appointed Guardian Ad Litem for twelve years; and

WHEREAS, James W. Ryan was an expert in child support and domestic relations who helped fashion legislation that protected children and brought justice to Cook County Courtrooms; and

WHEREAS, James Ryan will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors. His loss will be felt acutely by his wife, Theresa. Along with so many other relatives and friends, the community mourns the loss of James Rya...
