PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING GARY WARNER
WHEREAS, Gary K. Warner has retired from the office of Maine Township Clerk after 24 years in office and 29 years of public service on the Maine Township Board where he performed his responsibilities tirelessly and with the highest level of professionalism and integrity for his Maine Township constituents; and
WHEREAS, Gary was appointed to the Maine Township Board as Collector in 1989, a position he held for five years before his election to Township Clerk in 1993 where he served until May 2017; and
WHEREAS, Clerk Warner and his office were responsible for providing numerous services to the public which included voter registration, absentee voting, notary public services, passport applications acceptance, residential vehicle stickers, Medic Alert ID applications, Hunting & Fishing licenses and several more services; and
WHEREAS, Gary has received several awards and honors for his service as Maine Township Clerk including Township Clerk of the Year in 2006 by The Township Officials of Illinois and the Community Star Award for Government in 2009 by the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, in 2003, Gary received township approval to designate $1,000 annually to Honor Flight Chicago from money generated from processing fees collected by the Clerk's Office which began a program that has helped fund numerous trips for World War II and Korean War veterans to visit the war memorials in Washington D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Gary, a U.S. Army veteran, served with distinction as a past commander of AmVets Post #36 and is an active member of the Park Ridge American Legion Post #247; and
WHEREAS, Gary spent 40 years as a proud working tradesman for Pipefitters Local #597 until his retirement in 1995; and
WHEREAS, Gary and his wife of 62 years, Arlene have made their home in Maine Township for over 60 years and in the City of Park Ridge since 1969 where they raised their three children and enjoy spending time with their g...
