HONORING CARL SANDBURG HIGH SCHOOL SKILLSUSA TEAM

WHEREAS, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners are proud to recognize excellence in school academic clubs and activities; and

WHEREAS, the Cook County Board of Commissioners recognizes the importance of academic clubs and activities in developing the qualities of hard work, dedication and achievement in young adults; and

WHEREAS, members of the Carl Sandburg High School SkillsUSA Team displayed those outstanding qualities to achieve great success in the SkillsUSA state competition; and

WHEREAS, SkillsUSA is a national partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce and serves middle-school, high-school and college/postsecondary students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations; and

WHEREAS, the Carl Sandburg High School SkillsUSA students participated in the 53rd Annual Leadership and Skills Conference in Springfield on April 27th to April 29th where they competed in eleven areas by completing rea-world, hands-on problem-solving tasks based on industry standards and certifications, and had a terrific showing by taking home two gold medals, one silver medal, three bronze medals and three fourth place finishes; and

WHEREAS, students Cole Bateman and Alex Nowik won Gold Medals in Additive Manufacturing along with student Reyanna Hajyousif who won a Gold Medal in Interior Room Design and Faith Klier who won a Gold Medal in Fashion Design; and

WHEREAS, student Lashai Michel won a Silver Medal in Fashion Design and student Natalia Rychtarczyk won a Silver Medal in Adobe Photoshop Design; and

WHEREAS, students Noor Chaudhry and Sami Samara won Bronze Medals in Additive Manufacturing along with student Jaylyn Scott who won a Bronze Medal in Fashion Design and student Natalie Pawlikowski who won a Bronze Medal in Interior Room Desi...
