Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION OF THE COOK COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS CELEBRATING JUSTIN JOHNSON FOR BEING THE FOUNDER OF KICKS 4 THE CITY WHEREAS, Kicks 4 the City was launched during the fall of 2012 from a relationship between 23 year old Justin Johnson and Montrell, a homeless man who was similar in age to Justin, and; WHEREAS, Justin and Montrell's friendship grew and Justin learned that Montrell only had one pair of heavily worn shoes that had holes in them, and; WHEREAS, Justin suggested to a group of friends that they should start collecting shoes for homeless citizens, and; WHEREAS, Kicks 4 the City has to date been responsible for collecting over 50,000 pairs of shoes for those in need in nine cities with the generous support of over 500 volunteers and ambassadors, and; WHEREAS, Kicks 4 the City recently partnered with The Athlete's Foot and is also expanding their bandwidth into Ghana, partnering with the nonprofit organization Homeland Africa, and; WHEREAS, Just...

A RESOLUTION OF THE COOK COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS CELEBRATING JUSTIN JOHNSON FOR BEING THE FOUNDER OF KICKS 4 THE CITY

 

WHEREAS, Kicks 4 the City was launched during the fall of 2012 from a relationship between 23 year old Justin Johnson and Montrell, a homeless man who was similar in age to Justin, and;

 

WHEREAS, Justin and Montrell’s friendship grew and Justin learned that Montrell only had one pair of heavily worn shoes that had holes in them, and;

WHEREAS, Justin’s desire to help homeless citizens and less fortunate children in the Chicagoland area by supporting The Night Ministry, Chicago Public Schools Students in Temporary Living Situations and Pacific Garden Mission.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Cook County Board of Commissioners that Justin Johnson is to be honored for his commitment to give back to others, and that the sincere appreciation of the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners is extended to Justin Johnson for his service to Cook County citizens.
