Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING GROUND BREAKING OF THE CHICAGO MAGIC LOUNGE WHEREAS, Chicago-style magic, also known as restaurant and bar magic, has roots in the County of Cook and City of Chicago going back to 1915, including Schulien's on North Halsted, Ryan's Magic Tap on Division and Mayfield, the New York Lounge on Lincoln Avenue, Little Bit O' Magic on South Pulaski, Jonny Pauls' Magic Lounge in Cicero, Mr. C's Magic Lounge in Berwyn, Houdini's Pub in Oak Forest; and, WHEREAS, the Chicago Magic Lounge is a cabaret-style theater with performances of close-up and stage magic; and, WHEREAS, the Chicago Magic Lounge currently operates a successful run of magic shows and high-caliber tableside magic entertainment out of the Uptown Underground in the Andersonville neighborhood; and, WHEREAS, with a roster of over 30 professional magicians, the Chicago Magic Lounge has hosted some of the nation's best entertainers; and, WHEREAS, the Chicago Magic Lounge aims at remembering and ...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING GROUND BREAKING OF THE CHICAGO MAGIC LOUNGE

WHEREAS, Chicago-style magic, also known as restaurant and bar magic, has roots in the County of Cook and City of Chicago going back to 1915, including Schulien's on North Halsted, Ryan's Magic Tap on Division and Mayfield, the New York Lounge on Lincoln Avenue, Little Bit O' Magic on South Pulaski, Jonny Pauls' Magic Lounge in Cicero, Mr. C's Magic Lounge in Berwyn, Houdini's Pub in Oak Forest; and,

WHEREAS, the Chicago Magic Lounge is a cabaret-style theater with performances of close-up and stage magic; and,

WHEREAS, the Chicago Magic Lounge currently operates a successful run of magic shows and high-caliber tableside magic entertainment out of the Uptown Underground in the Andersonville neighborhood; and,

WHEREAS, with a roster of over 30 professional magicians, the Chicago Magic Lounge has hosted some of the nation's best entertainers; and,

WHEREAS, the Chicago Magic Lounge aims at remembering and revitalizing Chicago's contributions to the world of magic; and

WHEREAS, the Chicago Magic Lounge's goal is to unite the magic community under one roof, and to be the premier location in the Midwest for this form of entertainment; and,

WHEREAS, the Chicago Magic Lounge will be making a multi-million dollar investment in a previously vacant commercial property by rehabbing it into a full service theater with a magic museum and bar; and,

WHEREAS, the Chicago Magic Lounge estimates the project will create 25 union construction jobs and another 20 jobs running the operation.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the President and the Members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, congratulate Chicago Magic Lounge on the occasion of its groundbreaking and for its contributions to the history, local economy, and community fabric in the Andersonville neighborhood and Chicago at large, and do hereby declare June 7 shall henceforth be known as "Magic Day."
