PROPOSED RESOLUTION
REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF ALBIVORY HESTER CORLEY
WHEREAS, Ms. Albivory (Hester) Corley was born on May 23, 1914 in Leake County, Oklahoma, MS; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Albivory Hester Corley affectionately known as “Bib” was the youngest child of seven children to Luscious and Molly (Carson) Hester; and;
WHEREAS, Bib graduated from Tennessee State in Nashville, Tennessee and became a teacher in Leake County, Mississippi; and;
WHEREAS, seeking better opportunities, Bib moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1950; and
WHEREAS, In 1956 Bib was married to James Corely, and both became members of Grant Memorial AME Church that year. They lived a beautiful life together until 1982 when he passed; and,
WHEREAS, Bib worked at The Cook County Probate Court as a Clerk for 37 years; and,
WHEREAS, Bib was an active member of the Grant Memorial AME Church located at 4017 S. Drexel Blvd under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Virgil M. Woods; and
WHEREAS, On August 3, 2017, Bib answered her Master’s call from labor and entered into Eternal rest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Cook County Board of Commissioners to remember the life of Albivory Hester Corley and the sincere appreciation of the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners be extended to the family of Albivory Hester Corley for her service to her neighborhood and the wider community.
