PROPOSED RESOLUTION
THE SOUTH SUBURBAN COUNCIL ON ALCOHOLISM AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE 50TH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, the South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse was found in October 1967 by a group seeking to help others that were struggling with alcoholism and addiction; and
WHEREAS, the South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse established the first alcoholism treatment center for the area that it served; and
WHEREAS, the South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse would bring a treatment alternative to a jail cell, state mental health facility, or formal detoxification center in Manteno; and
WHEREAS, the South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse would expand throughout the years through donations and grants to provide residential fordable and effective chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation to residents of the greater Chicago Southland community; and
WHEREAS, the South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse is celebrating 50 years of exemplary service to some of the most vulnerable residents of Cook County and beyond in the most compassionate and effective manner; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on the behalf of the residents of Cook County, do hereby recognize and honor the South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse for 50 years of tireless work and dedication; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and a suitable copy of the same be tendered to the South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.
