PROPOSED RESOLUTION
Honoring Mothers/Men Against Senseless KillingS
WHEREAS, Mothers/Men Against Senseless Killings (MASK) puts eyes on the streets, interrupts violence and teaches children to grow up as friends rather than enemies; and
WHEREAS, MASK began as a group of caring individuals in the community spending time together on the block, cooking food, and promoting positive relationships in the community; and
WHEREAS, through MASK’s good work, community residents began to notice neighbors were watching out for each other and now this contagious positive attitude is spreading through more communities across the city; and
WHEREAS, MASK’s mission is to build stronger communities through a focus on violence prevention, food insecurity and housing; and
WHEREAS, MASK’s partners ensure community members have access to necessary city services, educational opportunities, professional skills and economic development; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, recognize Mothers/Men Against Senseless Killings for its essential contribution to the health and viability of Cook County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and an official copy of same be presented to Mothers/Men Against Senseless Killings.
