Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE WESTSIDE JUSTICE CENTER WHEREAS, the Westside Justice Center (WSJC) is a community-based organization that provides pro-bono legal services to the communities of Cook County; and WHEREAS, these services have been provided to more than 1,000 people over the last two years; and WHEREAS, the Westside Justice Center conducts know-your-rights seminars on numerous topics pertaining to the legal needs of community residents and does policy advocacy around criminal justice issues; and WHEREAS, the Westside Justice Center is part of a larger community of nonprofits and law firms that provide holistic legal services as a means to reduce recidivism and violence; and WHEREAS, the Westside Justice Center operates the Movement and Justice Gallery which houses historical exhibits of Chicagoans struggling for justice; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, re...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

HONORING THE WESTSIDE JUSTICE CENTER

 

WHEREAS, the Westside Justice Center (WSJC) is a community-based organization that provides pro-bono legal services to the communities of Cook County; and

 

WHEREAS, these services have been provided to more than 1,000 people over the last two years; and

 

WHEREAS, the Westside Justice Center conducts know-your-rights seminars on numerous topics pertaining to the legal needs of community residents and does policy advocacy around criminal justice issues; and

 

WHEREAS, the Westside Justice Center is part of a larger community of nonprofits and law firms that provide holistic legal services as a means to reduce recidivism and violence; and

 

WHEREAS, the Westside Justice Center operates the Movement and Justice Gallery which houses historical exhibits of Chicagoans struggling for justice; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, recognize the Westside Justice Center for its essential contribution to the health and viability of Cook County; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceeding of this Honorable Body, and a suitable copy of the same be tendered to the Westside Justice Center.
