PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING THE VILLAGE OF SCHAUMBURG ON BEING NAMED THE BEST PLACE TO LIVE IN ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, Money Magazine released its list of the top 100 places to live; and
WHEREAS, the list takes into account places that pair economic and educational performance with affordability, as well as convenience, safety, and a pleasant way of life; and
WHEREAS, there were 2,400 places that met the standards for the magazine’s study before it was narrowed down to the top 100; and
WHEREAS, Schaumburg, Illinois was ranked at number nine overall, and number one for the state of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Schaumburg holds a firm place in Chicago’s Golden Corridor which encompasses the northwest suburbs of the city that is known for being an economic and manufacturing powerhouse; and
WHEREAS, Schaumburg claims it is home to more business than any other place in Illinois, outside the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, the village is home to many impressive resources and facilities, such as the Prairie Center for the Arts, the Trickster Art Gallery, Legoland Discovery Center, and Schaumburg’s district library, which is one of the largest libraries in the state, with more than 1 million visitors each year; and
WHEREAS, Schaumburg is also home to Woodfield Mall, one of the largest malls in the country with nearly 300 stores and restaurants.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby congratulate the Village of Schaumburg on being named the 9th best place to live in the country, and the best place to live in Illinois; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a commemorative copy of this resolution be tendered to the Village of Schaumburg.
