PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING PILLARS COMMUNITY HEALTH
WHEREAS, Pillars Community Health is a health and social services organization dating back to 1921; and
WHEREAS, Pillars Community Health serves more than 10,000 residents across 35 communities in the Western and Southwestern suburbs of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Pillars Community Health is committed to eliminating barriers to care, such as language, income or stigma; and
WHEREAS, Pillars Community Health is one of only a few nonprofits in the state of Illinois to integrate primary medical and dental care with mental health, early education and social services; and
WHEREAS, Pillars Community Health provides more than 35 programs to the community including Medical, Dental, Mental Health and Addictions, Domestic and Sexual Violence, Early Head Start, Child Care, Prevention/Health Education and Outreach, and Benefits Assistance; and
WHEREAS, Pillars Community Health offers comprehensive services through 10 locations and also provides many services in community settings such as homes, schools, police stations, courthouses and emergency rooms; and
WHEREAS, Pillars Community Health encourages community residents to volunteer in a variety of roles and invest in the community through contributions and events like the Annual Pillars Ball, which raised $250,000 in 2017; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, recognizes the importance of Pillars Community Health and its essential contribution to the health and viability of Cook County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceeding of this Honorable Body, and a suitable copy of the same be tendered to Pillars Community Health.
