Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE DUSABLE HERITAGE ASSOCIATION WHEREAS, The DuSable Heritage Association, created in 2002, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the legacy of Haitian founder of Chicago, Jean-Baptiste Pointe DuSable, through educational and cultural activities; and WHEREAS, this year, 2018, marks the 200th year memoriam of the death of Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable; and WHEREAS, The DuSable Heritage Association will present yearlong cultural and educational activities honoring the many great contributions that Haitian and Americans of African origins have brought to Illinois; and WHEREAS, The DuSable Heritage Association acknowledges March 4 is the anniversary of the incorporation of Chicago founded by Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable; and WHERAS, members, leaders and supporters of the Haitian community convened on March 3, 2018 to celebrate the aspiration of "DuSable Park: On the Horizon 2020", the development of the City of Chicago Park District's DuSa...

HONORING THE DUSABLE HERITAGE ASSOCIATION

 

WHEREAS, The DuSable Heritage Association, created in 2002, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the legacy of Haitian founder of Chicago, Jean-Baptiste Pointe DuSable, through educational and cultural activities; and

 

WHEREAS, this year, 2018, marks the 200th year memoriam of the death of Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable; and

 

WHEREAS, The DuSable Heritage Association will present yearlong cultural and educational activities honoring the many great contributions that Haitian and Americans of African origins have brought to Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, The DuSable Heritage Association acknowledges March 4 is the anniversary of the incorporation of Chicago founded by Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable; and

 

WHERAS, members, leaders and supporters of the Haitian community convened on March 3, 2018 to celebrate the aspiration of “DuSable Park: On the Horizon 2020”, the development of the City of Chicago Park District’s DuSable Park; and

 

WHEREAS, The DuSable Heritage Association also honored Haitian American institutions who empower, educate and provide needed services in many communities across the greater Cook County; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, recognizes the importance of The DuSable Heritage Association and its essential contribution to the education and viability of Cook County; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceeding of this Honorable Body, and a suitable copy of the same be tendered to The DuSable Heritage Association.
