PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE 104th BIRTHDAY OF TEMPIE CORNELIA HARRISON THOMAS
WHEREAS, Ms. Tempie Cornelia Harrison Thomas was born on February 2nd, 1914 in Meridian, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, born the fourth child to Stewart and Lula Harrison Sr. her early childhood was spent in Meridian, Mississippi and later her family moved to Dublin, Mississippi where she received her education; and
WHERAS, in 1934 Tempie married Sam Thomas, and together they raised five children; and
WHEREAS, in 1952 she relocated to the south side of Chicago, Illinois, where she worked 38 years in the Domestic field before retiring; and
WHEREAS, when Tempie came to Chicago, she fellowshipped with a few churches, and decided to join Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church located at 6614 South Blackstone, under the leadership of Reverend H.R. Jelks where she was an active member; and
WHEREAS, In the fall of 1970, Tempie again moved, but this time into the Roseland area and moved her membership to Christian Missionary Baptist Church, then under the leadership of Reverend John Taylor, where she is currently an active member, now under the leadership of Reverend R. E. Harper; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Tempie Thomas serves as a member of the Mothers and Missions board she is also a Sunday school teacher, Spiritual Advisor and a Spiritual Leader of the Bethlehem Districts of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, she has never been without a church home, from the time she accepted Christ and joined the church at a young child; and
WHEREAS, she boldly declares the Missionary work is her calling declaring being active and working on various auxiliaries within the church; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Tempie Thomas has no fear of the unknown as she steps out on Gods words, venturing out into such places as the prisons, the court houses , the hospitals and on street corners spreading the Gospel; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Tempie Thomas is a member of the International Prayer Line, where she receives calls from people from...
