PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING BEDS PLUS
WHEREAS, since 1988, BEDS PLUS has given the homeless a safe place to sleep, hot homemade meals, professional counseling, and job services to become self-sufficient; and
WHEREAS, the mission of BEDS PLUS is to help vulnerable individuals stabilize their lives through housing and supportive services; and
WHEREAS, with help from volunteers, dedicated staff and the long term support of local faith-based communities, BEDS PLUS has assisted thousands of homeless individuals and families seeking refuge from the cold, winter season; and
WHEREAS, hospitals, schools, police and fire departments, churches, social service agencies and families consider BEDS PLUS their “go to” resource for individuals in desperate straits; and
WHERAS, BEDS PLUS services include access to health benefits, behavioral health, veteran services,
employment and housing assistance, and spiritual support; and
WHEREAS, BEDS PLUS operates shelters and programs in west suburban Cook County, and services the homeless in the townships of Lyons, Stickney, Riverside, Proviso, Orland, Palos and Worth; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, recognizes the importance of BEDS PLUS and their essential contribution to the health and viability of Cook County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceeding of this Honorable Body, and a suitable copy of the same be tendered to BEDS PLUS.
