CELESTINE SCHOOL WHEREAS, Jeanine Rocchi has been a parishioner of St. Celestine Church for 45 years; and WHEREAS, Jeanine Rocchi signed up to be a substitute teacher when her son began school at St. Celestine 35 years ago; and WHEREAS, Jeanine Rocchi went on to teach junior high at St. Celestine for eleven years; and WHEREAS, Jeanine Rocchi was then asked if she would consider being principal of St. Celestine; and WHEREAS, in order to become principal, Jeanine Rocchi went to Dominican University to get her master's degree in educational administration and supervision; and WHEREAS, Jeanine Rocchi also earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry from DePaul University; and WHEREAS, as principal, Jeanine Rocchi walked the school through the Chicago Noise Abatement Project, which allowed the school to become air conditioned; and WHEREAS, Principal Rocchi brought the school from Apple II com...

HONORING PRINCIPAL JEANINE ROCCHI AS SHE RETIRES FROM ST. CELESTINE SCHOOL

 

WHEREAS, Jeanine Rocchi has been a parishioner of St. Celestine Church for 45 years; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeanine Rocchi signed up to be a substitute teacher when her son began school at St. Celestine 35 years ago; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeanine Rocchi went on to teach junior high at St. Celestine for eleven years; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeanine Rocchi was then asked if she would consider being principal of St. Celestine; and

 

WHEREAS, in order to become principal, Jeanine Rocchi went to Dominican University to get her master’s degree in educational administration and supervision; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeanine Rocchi also earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry from DePaul University; and

 

WHEREAS, as principal, Jeanine Rocchi walked the school through the Chicago Noise Abatement Project, which allowed the school to become air conditioned; and

 

WHEREAS, Principal Rocchi brought the school from Apple II computers to up-to-date, one-to-one technology, using iPads and chromebooks throughout the entire school; and

 

WHEREAS, in addition to focusing on students’ faith formation, Principal Rocchi has overseen a range of new academic offerings and extracurricular activities and clubs at St. Celestine; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeanine Rocchi is mother to Stephen and Melissa and wife to Mike, with whom she looks forward to spending her retirement.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby congratulate Jeanine Rocchi on the occasion of her retirement as principal of St. Celestine; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be tendered to Jeanine Rocchi as an expression of our appreciation for her long commitment to the St. Celestine community.
