PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

RECOGNIZING MARSEIL “ACTION” JACKSON FOR HIS COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

 

WHEREAS, Marseil “Action” Jackson is a community activist, leader and a rising star on the West Side of Chicago, and;

 

WHEREAS, at the age of 21, Marseil launched the Jackson Action Coalition to promote community development, civic engagement and overall community investment, and;

 

WHEREAS, every summer the Jackson Action Coalition provides employment opportunities to over 300 youth between the ages of 16 and 24, and;

 

WHEREAS, Marseil has been working to help rebuild his community through programs designed to feed the homeless, provide clothing items for those in need and donate school supplies to children, and;

 

WHEREAS, Marseil has utilized partnerships with corporations and private entities enabling residents to attend events like Disney on Ice, Chicago Bulls games, Zoo visits and private box-office moving screenings, and;

 

WHEREAS, Marseil launched Rental Harvest, a monthly rent reporting service intended to help renters to build their credit profiles in order to increase their overall quality of life, and;

 

WHEREAS, Marseil has been widely recognized as a community leader having received the 2014 ComEd Neighborhood Hero Award, 2015 Westside NAACP freedom Fund Community Action Award and the Chicago Scholars 35 under 35 Making An Impact Award, and;

 

WHEREAS, Marseil is a co-host of the highly acclaimed Brunch Bunch radio show on WGCI’s 1390AM, a show that focuses on community issue awareness and the upliftment of all people, and; 

 

WHEREAS, Marseil has demonstrated his unyielding commitment to serve the least of these by his engagement of parents and young people in the Jackson Action Coalition programs, events and initiatives.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby thank and honor Marseil Jackson for his contributions to people living on the West Side and across the City.
