PROPOSED RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING ELK GROVE VILLAGE ON BEING THE MOST AFFORDABLE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, In many areas throughout Cook County the cost of living continues to increase through property taxes, municipal taxes, and fees that impact residents; and
WHEREAS, Elk Grove Village has been conducting a survey taking into account all of these factors in order to analyze the cost of living in the surrounding area for the past 10 years; and
WHEREAS, this survey includes a number of components such as; property tax, garbage fees, yard waste fees, animal licenses, vehicle stickers, fuel tax, water and sewer, home rule sales tax, food and beverage tax, amusement tax, telephone services, natural gas use tax, gas utility tax, electricity use tax, electric utility tax, and cable franchise fee; and
WHEREAS, Elk Grove Village has ranked number one in each of the 10 years the survey has been conducted alongside other comparable municipalities; and
WHEREAS, Elk Grove Village prides itself on having a reputation of offering high quality services at affordable prices; and
WHEREAS, not only has the village maintained its place as the most affordable community, it also has had the lowest combined property tax rate in the area for 20 years; and
WHEREAS, the Village is able to maintain this low cost of living in large part to their robust business community; and
WHEREAS, the business park located in Elk Grove Village is the largest industrial park in North America, with over 3,600 businesses located within its 5.4-square-mile location near O’Hare International Airport.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Cook County Board of Commissioners hereby congratulate Elk Grove Village on its continued excellence in providing affordable living alongside all of its high quality services to the residents who call the village home.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a commemorative copy of this resolution be tendered to Elk Grove Village.
