HONORING PHOENIX MILITARY ACADEMY FOR ITS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN BEING NAMED ONE OF THE TOP HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE UNITED STATES FOR A CONSECUTIVE YEAR

 

WHEREAS, Phoenix Military Academy is a distinguished military academy in Chicago, Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, Phoenix Military Academy is one of six military academies in the City of Chicago and is rated Level 1+ in school performance; and,

 

WHEREAS, Phoenix Military Academy’s vision is: “to seeks and develop young people to become better citizens and leaders with extraordinary character and a clear vision for success in post-secondary education at major universities, colleges, and top service academies”; and,

 

WHEREAS, More than 500 students attend Phoenix Military Academy; and,

 

WHEREAS, Phoenix Military Academy strives to promote student development in (5) five key areas: Leadership, Character, Citizenship, Service, and Academics; and,

 

WHEREAS, the student body of Phoenix Military Academy benefit from a unique educational environment that centers around building character; and,

 

WHEREAS, the student body of Phoenix Military Academy reflects a diverse range of backgrounds; and,

 

WHEREAS, the 2016 class was awarded more than $9 million in scholarships for college; and

 

WHEREAS, Phoenix Military Academy has consistently been recognized nationally and locally for its students’ many successes; and,

 

WHEREAS, Phoenix Military Academy was named in April of 2018 one of the top high schools in the country by U.S. News and World Report.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Cook County Board of Commissioners that the teachers, students, parents, and administration of the Phoenix Military Academy are to be recognized and congratulated for the achievement of being named a top high school by U.S. News and World Report.
