PROPOSED RESOLUTION
IN CELEBRATION OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF EDDIE L. JONES, II
WHEREAS, Eddie L. Jones, II is a native of Cotton Plant Arkansas, and has been a long time resident in the Pill Hill community on the south side of Chicago. Eddie is the proud father of three adult children, Iesha, Matthew, and Meghan, and the grandfather of four grandchildren. He shares his life with his supportive significant other, Teresa Haley. In Eddie’s spare time he enjoys taking a cruise to different destinations in the country, and golfing with the fellas; and
WHEREAS, Eddie L. Jones, II is a proven leader in corporate and the private industries. He has earned his bachelor from the University of Illinois of Chicago (UIC); and
WHEREAS, Eddie L. Jones, II was a strong leader and skilled professional at IBM for more than thirty years. He excelled in auditing of internal processes, training and management development, which led to Eddie successfully developing hundreds of managers; and
WHEREAS, On June 20, 1971 Eddie L. Jones, II was initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Western Illinois University, Eta Eta Chapter. Eddie later transferred from Western Illinois University (WIU), and attended the University of Illinois of Chicago (UIC) and affiliated with Theta Chapter in Chicago where he was elected and served as chapter vice-president; and
WHEREAS, In 1976 when Eddie graduated from the University of Illinois of Chicago (UIC) he became the graduate advisor to Theta Chapter; and
WHEREAS, In 1978 Eddie L. Jones, II joined the Iota Delta Lambda Chapter and since joining has held several leadership positions including Athletics Director, Chapter Coordinator for the March of Dimes Walk for Babies, and Chapter President for five terms; and
WHEREAS, In 1990 Eddie L. Jones’s, II. dedication and passion to the constituency of providing security and serving others lead him to join the Alpha Security Team. He is currently Director of Security for the District of Illinois and the Midwestern Region, continuing to build positive working relationships across the country; and
WHEREAS, In 1992 Eddie L. Jones, II joined the IDeaL Education Foundation and currently serves as the Board Chairman. Eddie’s demonstrated leadership for the community and his love for the fraternity has been the link to the foundations favorable outcomes and success. He has also been widely recognized, including being selected to carry the U.S. Olympic Torch in 1996; and
WHEREAS, In 2010 Eddie L. Jones, II launched his second career as a security professional becoming the principal of All Points Security Inc. Eddie’s work in security has afforded him the opportunity to travel internationally as part of the U.S. Presidential Delegation with the Clinton Administration; and
WHEREAS, On May 19, 2018 Eddie L. Jones, II received the Iota Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Golden Anniversary Achievement and Legacy Award. A recognition that is bestowed upon a chapter member who have excelled in professional or career endeavors and given yeoman service to Iota Delta Lambda Chapter and Alpha Phi Alpha at all levels since affiliation with Iota Delta Lambda Chapter; and
WHEREAS, In the year of 2019 at the IDeaL Foundation Annual MLK Scholarship Luncheon, a named scholarship in Brother Eddie L. Jones, II honor will be awarded to a graduating African American male high school or college student; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the County of Cook Board of Commissioners congratulates Brother Eddie L. Jones, II on receiving the Iota Delta Lambda Chapter’s Golden Anniversary Achievement and Legacy Award; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution is spread upon the permanent record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of Cook County, and that a suitable copy of this resolution will be prepared and presented to Eddie L. Jones II. for his outstanding accomplishments.
