PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING LARRY PIEKARZ FOR HIS DEDICATION AND SERVICE TO THE RESIDENTS OF FOREST PARK
WHEREAS, Larry Piekarz has served the Park District of Forest Park since 1989, and
WHEREAS, Larry became the director of the Park District in 2006, and
WHEREAS, he has dedicated himself to making sure the Park District is accessible to each and every resident of the Village, and
WHEREAS, in his tenure at the Park District, the number of programs has grown from six to more than 40, and
WHEREAS, Larry has been a bridge builder between the Village, Park District, residents and local businesses in order to make sure the Parks can offer all of those programs and the popular Fourth of July fireworks, and
WHEREAS, Larry has grown the annual No Gloves Nationals tournament to include both local and out of town attendees, putting Forest Park on the map of top recreational locations in the country, and
WHEREAS, under Larry’s leadership, the Roos Recreation Center, offering Forest Park residents a state-of-the-art facility, became a reality, and
WHEREAS, Larry has been a tireless advocate for Forest Park in securing hundreds of thousands in grant funding, and many of those projects will boost Forest Park’s image in the years to come, and
WHEREAS, Larry has been an outstanding advocate for the residents of Forest park and that work has benefitted all of the Western Suburbs, and
WHEREAS, the entirety of the First District looks forward to the continued efforts Larry will put forth and thanks him for his decades of service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Cook County Board of Commissioners that Larry Piekarz is thanked and honored for his decades of service to the public and congratulated on the occasion of his retirement.
