WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. passed away on July 10, 2018 at the age of 92, and; WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. was born on April 28, 1926 to Kelly and Mamie Williams in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and; WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. married Mercedes Moore in 1950, who preceded him in death, and with whom he had five children, and; WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. married Ora Dee Gamble in 1964, who preceded him in death, and with whom he had one child, and; WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. married Dora Ziegler in 2002, who remained a figure of love and support by his side for the remainder of his life, and; WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. was an engaged and loving father to his children Karen, Donald Jr., Sheryl, Sharlene, Denise, Rhonda, and dedicated stepfather to Alfonso Gamble and Donald Rogers, and; WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. was the proud grandfather of 24 and the proud great-grandfather of 35, and; WHEREAS, D...

CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF THE HONORABLE DONALD LEROY WILLIAMS, SR.

WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. passed away on July 10, 2018 at the age of 92, and;

WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. was born on April 28, 1926 to Kelly and Mamie Williams in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and;

WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. married Mercedes Moore in 1950, who preceded him in death, and with whom he had five children, and;

WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. married Ora Dee Gamble in 1964, who preceded him in death, and with whom he had one child, and;

WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. married Dora Ziegler in 2002, who remained a figure of love and support by his side for the remainder of his life, and;

WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr., worked in the Maywood community as a business owner, a pharmacist, a State Farm agency owner for 50 years, and the cofounder of a real estate company, and;

WHEREAS, in 2018, Don Williams, Sr. was named Maywood's businessman of the year, and;

WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. acted as a political leader during his time as the second African American Mayor of Maywood, and;

WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. remained an active Maywood community member, as a member of the Maywood Rotary Club and the director of the 1st Suburban National Bank, and;

WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. was a strong spiritual leader in the community and an ordained minister and deacon at the Second Baptist Church in Maywood, and;

WHEREAS, Don Williams, Sr. left a legacy of positive and enduring service to the Maywood community in every sphere.
