Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION MIRIAM D BALANOFF, IN MEMORIAM WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom has called Miriam Balanoff from our midst; and WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff was the loving wife of Clem Balanoff; and WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff was the devoted mother of Clem Jr (Jan Kralovec), Jane (Jean Emond) and Bob (Felice Batlan); and WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff was the dear grandmother of nine grandchildren Bob Jr, Dan, Anne (Yoichiro), Marc (Elizabeth), Clement III, Miya (Adam) Monica, Daniel and Asa; and WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff was the loving great grandmother of Felix; and WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff moved to Chicago in the 1950's and graduated from the University of Chicago Law School; and WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1978 where she offered legislation to protect workers, especially those whose jobs were lost in plant closings; and WHEREAS, In 1986, Miriam Balanoff was elected Judge to the Circuit Court of Cook County where sh...

MIRIAM D BALANOFF, IN MEMORIAM

WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom has called Miriam Balanoff from our midst; and

WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff was the loving wife of Clem Balanoff; and

WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff was the devoted mother of Clem Jr (Jan Kralovec), Jane (Jean Emond) and Bob (Felice Batlan); and

WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff was the dear grandmother of nine grandchildren Bob Jr, Dan, Anne (Yoichiro), Marc (Elizabeth), Clement III, Miya (Adam) Monica, Daniel and Asa; and

WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff was the loving great grandmother of Felix; and

WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff moved to Chicago in the 1950's and graduated from the University of Chicago Law School; and

WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1978 where she offered legislation to protect workers, especially those whose jobs were lost in plant closings; and

WHEREAS, In 1986, Miriam Balanoff was elected Judge to the Circuit Court of Cook County where she served for 14 years; and

WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff was a lifelong advocate from woman's rights, human rights, civil rights, LGBTQ and workers' rights; and

WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff remained active throughout her life in politics and political campaigns; and

WHEREAS, Miriam Balanoff touched the lives of many and will be remembered by all who knew her; and

WHEREAS, all who knew her will attest that Miriam Balanoff was a kind and compassionate woman, virtuous of character and gentle in spirit, admired and respected by her many friends and neighbors, and dearly loved by her family; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of Cook County that the Board does hereby offer its deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathy to the family of Miriam Balanoff and joins them in sorrow at this time of loss; and
