Mendoza, 16 - were family and friends; and WHEREAS, there has been a tremendous amount of support for the families of the children by people across Cook County and the rest of the nation; and WHEREAS, we honor the service and actions of first responders, law enforcement personnel, volunteers, and countless others who have assisted the families of the...

HONORING THE CHILDREN WHOSE LIVES WERE LOST IN A TRAGIC FIRE IN CHICAGO’S LITTLE VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD

 

WHEREAS, around 4 a.m. on August 26, 2018, a devastating fire engulfed a building in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood; and

 

WHEREAS, a tragic loss of life occurred that day as ten children were the fatal victims of this fire; and

 

WHEREAS, the children - Amayah Lenora Almaraz, 3 months; Alanni Juanita Ayala, 3; Gialanni Angela Ayala, 5; Ariel Rose Garcia, 5; Giovanni Christopher Ayala, 10; Xavier Isiah Contreras, 11; Nathan Guadalupe Contreras, 13; Adrian Hernandez, 14; Cesar Louis Contreras, 14; and Victor F. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, do hereby honor the beloved children who lost their lives in this tragic fire; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, do extend their deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of the children.end
