PROPOSED RESOLUTION
RECOGNIZING OCTOBER AS NATIONAL MANUFACTURING MONTH AND COMMENDING SCHAUMBURG, ILLINOIS FOR THEIR INITIATIVES IN THE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY
WHEREAS, there are nearly 185,000 employees working in manufacturing throughout Cook County; and
WHEREAS, 12,300 of these employees working in manufacturing in Schaumburg, Illinois many of them recognized by the Schaumburg Business Association; and
WHEREAS, manufacturing represents 17% of Schaumburg’s total employment; and
WHEREAS, manufacturing represents nearly 10% of Cook County’s employment; and
WHEREAS, fabricated metals and food processing employment is 20% more concentrated in Cook County compared to the national average; and
WHEREAS, 5,778 manufacturing firms are in Cook County; and
WHEREAS, Schaumburg Illinois has 231 manufacturing firms which makes up for 7% of Schaumburg’s entire tax base; and
WHEREAS, 3,700 metal manufacturing firms are in Cook County which generate nearly $30 billion dollars in revenue; and
WHEREAS, through its growth in metal manufacturing, Schaumburg Illinois is the third largest manufacturing sector.
NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and Board of Commissioners of Cook County do hereby commend the Schaumburg Business Association, and recognize October as manufacturing month in Schaumburg, Cook County and Illinois; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable body and that a copy tendered over to the Illinois Manufacturers Association.end
