PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING UNIVERSOUL CIRCUS ON ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR
WHEREAS, UniverSoul Circus is the creative vision of Cedric Walker, an African-American with a vision to create a circus where people of color with incredible talents would be able to perform; and
WHEREAS, UniverSoul Circus' first performance took place in 1994 in the parking lot of Atlanta Fulton County Stadium, and grew by 1997 to a circus tour of 10 cities; and
WHEREAS, UniverSoul Circus toured 32 cities in 2005 and completed its first international destination with a tour in South Africa in 2001; and
WHEREAS, UniverSoul Circus has had a positive impact in Chicago through creating a multi-generational show that brings people of various backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities together; and
WHEREAS, UniverSoul Circus proudly celebrates 25 high-flying years as a top-ranked venue for music, laughter and unrivalled performance artistry; and
WHEREAS, UniverSoul Circus has forever transformed the world's urban entertainment landscape and features a multicultural conglomeration of performers from virtually every corner of the globe, including South Africa, United States of America, Trinidad and Tobago, Chile, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Russia, Guinea, Gabon and Mongolia; and
WHEREAS, in the words of Cedric Walker, Founder and CEO of UniverSoul Circus: "Generations have witnessed our growth and have evolved with us. We want our fans to know they will always be a part of the UniverSoul Circus family. Consider us a community-minded, family-oriented, spiritually-uplifting entertainment revival for families across America;" and
WHEREAS, the Circus Ring of Fame Foundation, Inc., selected Cedric Walker for the 2018 enshrinement into its prestigious Circus Ring of Fame in recognition of his "outstanding contributions to circus arts and culture;" and,
