PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATIONS DIANE NICHOLS ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM COOK COUNTY GOVERNMENT
WHEREAS, Diane Nichols has been a dedicated employee at Cook County Government for 30 years; and
WHEREAS, Diane Nichols began her career at Cook County in 1988 as the Administrative Assistant I for the President’s Office under President George W. Dunne; and
WHEREAS, Diane Nichols remained with President Dunne’s office until the end of his term at which point she transferred to the Department of Transportation and Highways; and
WHEREAS, in 1997 Diane returned to the President’s Office as the Administrative Assistant III under President John H. Stroger, Jr.; and
WHEREAS, Diane joined the Bureau of Human Resources in 1999 as an Administrative Assistant IV and she continues to serve in the Bureau of Human Resources until her retirement; and
WHEREAS, Diane’s calming spirit and willingness to jump into action to assist her coworkers and county residents has been a trait that has endeared her to all who worked with her; and
WHEREAS, Diane has been described by her friends and colleagues as a person with a quick wit and a heart of gold; and
WHEREAS, Diane’s colleagues have benefited from her love of cooking as willing taste testers of all holiday and birthday cakes; and
WHEREAS, Diane is known for her excitement and joy for traveling to exotic places; and
WHEREAS, Diane appreciates many things, but her greatest love is the love she has for her family including her husband, Gerald, her children, Keana (Mya), Tyrice (deceased), Jeannie, Jenik, Nissan (deceased), Courtney, Cecilia and Keyla, 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and others in her extended family; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby congratulate Diane Nichols on her retirement; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be tender to Diane Nichols as an expression of our appreciation for her long commitment to the residents of Cook County.
