HONORING ASIAHA BUTLER FOR HER LEADERSHIP COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION TO THE GREATER ENGLEWOOD COMMUNITY

WHEREAS, Asiaha Butler is a Grassroots Community Strategist, Facilitator, and Education Activist; and

WHEREAS, Asiaha Butler is a longtime resident of Greater Englewood and is determined to uplift, inspire, and change the perception of her neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, She coined the name "MRS. Englewwod" after developing a blog that focused on the positive aspects of Greater Englewood and considers herself married to the community; and

WHEREAS, In November 2010, Asiaha Butler mobilized residents and co-founded the Resident of Greater Englewood also known as R.A.G.E., which she currently serves as President; and

WHEREAS, In 2011, she co-founded the Greater Englewood CDC with the mission to rebrand, rebuild and revitalize the economic conditions of the Englewood community; and

WHEREAS, In 2014, Ms. Butler earned her Master Degree in Inner City Studies at Jacob Carruthers Center of Inner City Studies of Northeastern University Illinois; and

WHEREAS, She serves on numerous boards and councils through her neighborhood such as: Advisory Council member of Benefit Chicago, Member of New Englewood High School Steering Committee; President of Hamilton Park Advisory Council, just to name a few; and

WHEREAS, Asiaha Butler has been the receipt of numerous awards throughout her career. They include the 2017 Englewood Enterprise Award from DL3 Realty, 2016 Community Champion Award from Molina Healthcare, and the 2016 Woman of the Year Award from Psi Psi Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc; and
