EWELL FOR HIS LONGEVITY OF LIFE AND LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE WEST CHATHAM COMMUNITY WITHIN THE 4TH DISTRICT OF COOK COUNTY WHEREAS, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners; wishes to recognize the longevity of life and lifetime achievements of Raymond W. Ewell; and WHEREAS, Raymond W. Ewell was born on December 29, 1928 in Chicago, IL; and WHEREAS, Raymond W. Ewell is a proven scholar of all time. Raymond attended Corpus Christi Elementary School and later graduated from Englewood High School in Chicago in 1946. He earned his BA degree from the University of Illinois in 1949 and his MA degree in 1951. He earned his Doctorate of Law degree from the University of Chicago in 1954; and WHEREAS, Raymond W. Ewell's professional career exemplifies his dedication to serving others. Raymond Ewell served in the U.S. Army. RECOGNIZING RAYMOND W. EWELL FOR HIS LONGEVITY OF LIFE AND LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE WEST CHATHAM COMMUNITY WITHIN THE 4TH DISTRICT OF COOK COUNTY

 

WHEREAS, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners; wishes to recognize the longevity of life and lifetime achievements of Raymond W. Ewell; and

 

WHEREAS, Raymond W. Ewell was born on December 29, 1928 in Chicago, IL; and

 

WHEREAS, Raymond W. Ewell is a proven scholar of all time. Raymond attended Corpus Christi Elementary School and later graduated from Englewood High School in Chicago in 1946. He earned his BA degree from the University of Illinois in 1949 and his MA degree in 1951. He earned his Doctorate of Law degree from the University of Chicago in 1954; and

 

WHEREAS, Raymond W. Ewell’s professional career exemplifies his dedication to serving others. Raymond Ewell served in the U.S. Army. He was a partner at Ewell, Graham, McCormick, Ross and Davidson, as well as a practicing attorney for 53 years. He taught in the Chicago Public Schools, and was an Illinois State Civil Service Commissioner. He was a lobbyist for the Cook County Bond Counsel, the City of Chicago, the Chicago Teachers Pension Fund, and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association; and

 

WHEREAS, Raymond W. Ewell has an extended legislative history.  He has served in the 75th, 76th, 77th, 78th, 79th, 80th, 81st, and 82nd General Assemblies. He also served as a State Representative 1967 - 1983, Chairman of Higher Education Committee, Chairman of Illinois Legislative Black Caucus, and the Chairman of National Society of State Legislators in 1969; and

 

WHEREAS, Raymond W. Ewell was a member of the Federal Public Defender Program, Cook County Bar Association, NAACP, Washington Park Y.M.C.A., Southtown Y.M.C.A, Business Men’s Association, St. Carthage Grooming School for Boys, and Perry Avenue Block Club; and

 

WHEREAS, Raymond W. Ewell, has demonstrated great leadership and success in the public and the private sector in the fields of agriculture, conservation registration and regulation, higher education, judiciary, human resources, elections, public utilities, and motor vehicles; and

 

WHEREAS, his dedication to being a servant to the people of Illinois shall be recognized and shared publicly among his family friends, and community; and

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners recognize the longevity of life and lifetime achievements of Raymond W. Ewell; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be spread upon the permanent record of proceedings of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, and that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Raymond W. Ewell in recognition of this important milestone.end
