Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING JANE HAYDEN FOR RECEIVING THE GUERIN PREP SISTER FRANCES ALMA MCMANUS AWARD WHEREAS, the Sister Frances Alma McManus Award was established in 1989 in honor of the first principal of Mother Theodore Guerin High School (now Guerin Prep); and WHEREAS, the McManus Award honors those who show achievement through service to their community and/or through their career; and WHEREAS, Jane Hayden is a graduate of Mother Theodore Guerin High School's class of 1980; and WHEREAS, Jane Hayden, born and raised in Chicago, credits Mother Guerin with affording her a lifetime of friendships and sending her out into the world armed with confidence and humility; and WHEREAS, at Guerin, Jane Hayden recalls she was always encouraged to try, and she leaned that it was never a problem to fail or come in second; and WHEREAS, during Jane Hayden's senior year, the confidence that Guerin instilled took her to WGN studios, where she explained that she knew how to type and ...

CONGRATULATING JANE HAYDEN FOR RECEIVING THE GUERIN PREP SISTER FRANCES ALMA MCMANUS AWARD

WHEREAS, the Sister Frances Alma McManus Award was established in 1989 in honor of the first principal of Mother Theodore Guerin High School (now Guerin Prep); and

WHEREAS, the McManus Award honors those who show achievement through service to their community and/or through their career; and

WHEREAS, Jane Hayden is a graduate of Mother Theodore Guerin High School's class of 1980; and

WHEREAS, Jane Hayden, born and raised in Chicago, credits Mother Guerin with affording her a lifetime of friendships and sending her out into the world armed with confidence and humility; and

WHEREAS, at Guerin, Jane Hayden recalls she was always encouraged to try, and she leaned that it was never a problem to fail or come in second; and

WHEREAS, during Jane Hayden's senior year, the confidence that Guerin instilled took her to WGN studios, where she explained that she knew how to type and was looking for late hours or weekend work. Within a few days, Jane was offered a radio logger position via the pay phone outside Guerin's cafeteria; and

WHEREAS, Jane Hayden has been with WGN ever since 1980, and in 1990 Jane was honored as WGN-TV's Employee of the Year; and

WHEREAS, since 1999, Jane Hayden has served as Director of Operations for WGN-TV; and

WHEREAS, Jane Hayden's experiences outside of WGN reflect her commitment to service. Shortly after graduating from Guerin, Jane began mentoring within the Cabrini Green community; and

WHEREAS, Jane Hayden later began a mentoring program with the Chicago Boys and Girls Club, encouraging friends and coworkers to volunteer; and

WHEREAS, in 1996, Jane Hayden received an award from the Corporate Volunteer Program with WGN-TV and the Chicago Boys and Girls Club, and she was the 2012 Volunteer of the Year for the Daniel Cotter Boys and Girls Club of Chicago; and
