PROPOSED RESOLUTION
COOK COUNTY TRANSIT PLAN STATEWIDE PLANNING AND RESEARCH PROGRAM GRANT AWARD ACCEPTANCE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the value of infrastructure improvement to economic development and job creation in Cook County has been prioritized in the County's Long Range Transportation Plan, Connecting Cook County; and
WHEREAS, robust mass transit service in Cook County supports regional economic activity and quality of life for residents, but experiences funding challenges and loss of ridership on some services; and
WHEREAS, Cook County applied to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for Statewide Planning and Research Program monies and was awarded $390,000.00 for a planning study to investigate ways to improve transit service for all users of public transportation within Cook County by considering changes to fare structure, new sources of financing, changes to existing services, and the costs and benefits of new transit services; and
WHEREAS, this grant requires local match of $97,500.00, which is funded by 11300.1500.520380 P24193 A10846 and the funding period is 10/1/18 through 9/30/21; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President of the Board of Commissioners of Cook County and/or her designee, the Superintendent of the Department of Transportation and Highways (DOTH), is hereby authorized to execute such documents as required to accept the sum of Three Hundred Ninety Thousand and NO/100 dollars ($390,000.00) from the Illinois Department of Transportation's Statewide Planning and Research Program for professional services necessary to complete this planning study; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Grant Award shall be used by the Department of Transportation and Highways for said planning study and shall be designated as Section: 18-6CCTP-00-ES; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the improvement shall be constructed by contract; and
