PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE NORTHBROOK PARK DISTRICT'S TEAMS ELITE SYNCHRONIZED JUNIOR SKATERS ON THEIR 2019 SPRING CUP GOLD MEDAL
WHEREAS, Teams Elite is Northbrook Park District's synchronized Junior Skaters team; and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite was formed in 1999 in Northbrook, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite is composed of 20 team members ranging 13 years old to 18 years old; and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite members come from Northbrook, Glenview, Buffalo Grove, Arlington Heights, Prospect Heights, Palos Heights, Niles, Alsip, Vernon Hills, Downers Grove, Evanston, Countryside, and Kenosha; and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite 2018-2019 team was the Junior Skaters' first time competing in an international competition; and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite was selected as one of four synchronized skating teams to represent Team USA during the 2019 Spring Cup international competition; and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite competed in Milan, Italy in February 2019; and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite faced 30 skating teams from around the globe; and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite and coach Danielle Ostrower wore the red, white, and blue representing the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite finished first in both the short program (67.56) and free skate (93.29); and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite scored a total of 160.85 points at their international debut; and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite topped the field by 10 points; and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite won the gold medal as the 2019 Spring Cup junior division champions
and took home the cup for Team USA; and
WHEREAS, Teams Elite Northbrook resident Caroline Clesen, a senior at Glenbrook North High School, with her teammates alongside her, received the medal and trophy on behalf of the team; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Cook County Board of Commissioners honors Teams Elite, congratulates them on their international victory and praises their contributions to the synchronized skating legacy of District 14 and all of Cook County; and
