PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING 606 CHICAGO MIC TUESDAYS 20TH ANNIVERARY
WHEREAS, on November 17, 1998 The 606 Entertainment started “606 Chicago” Tuesdays. A weekly Hip Hop open mic night at the Subterranean in the heart of Wicker Park; and
WHEREAS, 606 recently celebrated 20 years of open mic Hip Hop. They celebrated 20 years in the same venue on the same night, at one of the most ever evolving neighborhoods. The night and venue have surpassed the test of time and is considered a Hip Hop staple amongst the community; and
WHEREAS, 606 Tuesdays was started because the Hip Hop Community of Chicago is all spread out and very colorful. The weekly night provided a safe neutral environment for everyone to come and showcase, represent, and do what they do without limitations or prejudice; and
WHEREAS, 606 is a place where everyone can have fun and elevate the Hip Hop Community as a whole. With one weekly event, 606 Tuesdays shattered stereotypes, achieved diversity, and provided a platform to have their talents and voices be heard; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The Cook County Board of Commissioners along with the President Toni Preckwinkle and on behalf of the over five million residents of Cook County, do hereby recognize 606 Chicago MIC Tuesdays 20th Anniversary and so wish 606 Entertainment every continued success in their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution is shared upon the official proceedings of this honorable body and that an official copy of the same be tendered to 606 Entertainment in honor of this auspicious occasion
