PROPOSED RESOLUTION
RECOGNIZING MICHAEL MANSON MUSICAL EDUCATOR AND CO-FOUNDER OF THE MUSICAL ARTS INSTITUTE
WHEREAS, Michael Manson is a graduate of Northwestern University (Bienen School of Music); and
WHEREAS, Michael Manson, the bassist musical educator, executive director and founder incorporated Musical Arts Institute in January 2010; and
WHEREAS, Michael Manson has enjoyed 35 years of career success with artists such as George Duke, Al Jareau, Kirk Whallum, and many others; and
WHEREAS, Michael was compelled to give back to his hometown Chicago, where few role models were accessible for many of our youth; and
WHEREAS, Michael has worked cohesively with co-founder and co-executive director, Lana Manson, to organize an amazing team of professional musicians and educators to provide outstanding music instruction in Chicago's underserved areas; and
WHEREAS, Michael and Lana together have more than 30 years of experience in Music Education, has established an organization to equip students to compete for college scholarships or to achieve a sustainable professional career in music. Recognizing that students within CPS and other highly populated African American communities lacked access to advanced music instruction; and
WHEREAS, The Musical Arts Institute has been acknowledged as one of the top 10 rated non- for-profit organizations in Chicago by greatnonprofits.com; and
WHEREAS, The Musical Arts Institute now serves over 400 community students with the highest quality music instruction, with a staff of 16 highly qualified and certified music educators and support staff; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, shall honor Michael Manson for his dedication and commitment to inner city youth in the Princeton Park Community within the 4th district; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution is spread upon the permanent record of proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of Cook Co...
