PROPOSED RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION HONORING MOLLY PINTA AND THE PINTA PRIDE PROJECT
WHEREAS, Molly Pinta, a middle-schooler from Buffalo Grove, had a goal of starting a Pride Parade in her hometown; and
WHEREAS, Molly, who came out last year as a member of the LGBTQ community, pondered the idea of having a Pride Parade in Buffalo Grove after being inspired by attending a Pride Parade in Aurora; and
WHEREAS, Molly was quoted as saying, “I’m not being brave, I’m just being me.”; and,
WHEREAS, Molly successfully launched the Pinta Pride Project with her parents in order to make the parade a reality; and
WHEREAS, Molly and her parents created this project to be beacon for other young LGBTQ people who many not have as much support at home; and
WHEREAS, the Pinta Pride Project raised over $55,000 to make the first ever Buffalo Grove Pride Parade and associated festival happen; and
WHEREAS, the parade had over 2,000 participants and many thousand more in attendance; and
WHEREAS, the parade had 50 sponsors and 90 local organizations participating; and
WHEREAS, the first annual Buffalo Grove Pride Parade was a resounding success because of vision and dedication of Molly Pinta and the Pinta Pride Project; and
WHEREAS, Molly serves as an incredible example of a young person who is working to make our communities more welcoming and inclusive for all residents; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Cook County Board of Commissioner recognizes Molly Pinta and the Pinta Pride Project for the amazingly successful first Buffalo Grove Pride Parade and the great work they will continue to do for their community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that suitable copies of this resolution is presented to Molly Pinta and the Pinta Pride Project.
