Tolstedt, Ph.D., is retiring on December 31, 2019 after having served as the Director of the Federal Evanston Vet Center since August 1985; and WHEREAS, Betsy is a Clinical Psychologist, licensed in the State of Illinois. She completed her doctoral work at the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle. During her work at the Center, she assisted thousands of veterans with their medical and financial needs; and WHEREAS, prior to taking the job with the Vet Center, Betsy worked at Hines VA Hospital and the DuPage County Health Department; and WHEREAS, as Director at the Vet Center, Betsy was responsible for management of the Center and clinical supervision of staff, while maintaining her own clinical case load; and WHEREAS, during her tenure at the Evanston Vet Center, Betsy held concurrent positions as the Director of the Rockford Vet Center Outstation (1995-2011) and acting Di...

HONORING THE LIFE AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF BETSY ELAINE TOLSTEDT, Ph.D.

 

WHEREAS, Betsy E. Tolstedt, Ph.D., is retiring on December 31, 2019 after having served as the Director of the Federal Evanston Vet Center since August 1985; and

 

WHEREAS, Betsy is a Clinical Psychologist, licensed in the State of Illinois. She completed her doctoral work at the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle. During her work at the Center, she assisted thousands of veterans with their medical and financial needs; and

 

WHEREAS, prior to taking the job with the Vet Center, Betsy worked at Hines VA Hospital and the DuPage County Health Department; and

 

WHEREAS, as Director at the Vet Center, Betsy was responsible for management of the Center and clinical supervision of staff, while maintaining her own clinical case load; and

 

WHEREAS, during her tenure at the Evanston Vet Center, Betsy held concurrent positions as the Director of the Rockford Vet Center Outstation (1995-2011) and acting Director of the Quad Cities Vet Center (March 2017 through September 2019); and

 

WHEREAS, in 2002, under her leadership, the Evanston Vet Center was selected as a Vet Center of Excellence; and

 

WHEREAS, through her efforts, veterans throughout Cook County were treated with respect and given the care they earned.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners of Cook County, on behalf of the 5.2 million residents of Cook County honors the life and contributions of Betsy E. Tolstedt, Ph.D., and herewith expresses its sincere gratitude for the invaluable contributions she has made to the Citizens of Cook County, Illinois; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body and that an official copy of the same be tendered to Betsy E. Tolstedt, Ph.D.
