Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION ANNUAL REPORTING OF COOK COUNTY ADA IMPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, on July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law; and WHEREAS, Title II of the Act prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all programs, activities, and services of public entities, and applies to all state and local governments and their departments and agencies; and WHEREAS, Cook County has a responsibility to its residents and visitors with disabilities to ensure that the County complies with the Act and ensures that its many agencies that make up this government are accessible; and WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to have the County Board and its public updated on a regular basis on the progress of County ADA improvements via the Asset Management Committee. PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

ANNUAL REPORTING OF COOK COUNTY ADA IMPROVEMENTS

 

WHEREAS, on July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law; and

 

WHEREAS, Title II of the Act prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all programs, activities, and services of public entities, and applies to all state and local governments and their departments and agencies; and

 

WHEREAS, Cook County has a responsibility to its residents and visitors with disabilities to ensure that the County complies with the Act and ensures that its many agencies that make up this government are accessible; and

 

WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to have the County Board and its public updated on a regular basis on the progress of County ADA improvements via the Asset Management Committee.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does herby request that the Bureau of Asset Management’s Department of Capital Planning and Policy deliver and present an annual report on the state of ADA compliance in Cook County Government; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said reports be delivered to the Board of Commissioners via the Asset Management Committee annually, beginning in October of the 2020 fiscal year.

 

Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
