PROPOSED RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION HONORING LIVES LOST IN DISTRICT 12 DUE TO COVID-19
WHEREAS, Covid-19 has been the worst pandemic in modern history, affecting our lives and health in immeasurable ways, while claiming the lives of too many; and
WHEREAS, as of July 27th, the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has claimed 64 lives in the Twelfth District of Cook County; and
WHEREAS, our most vulnerable populations and communities at risk have been most seriously affected by COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, many have suffered and died from COVID-19 in isolation, without the touch and comfort of their friends and family, and many more have lost the opportunity to engage in traditional memorial and funeral gatherings honoring the lives of those who have passed, leaving family and loved ones to grieve in isolation; and
WHEREAS, victims of COVID-19 are more than a statistic, each affected person led a unique life that was cut short by COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, as our County slowly reopens, we must remain vigilant against the spread of the disease, and know our actions will affect the health, safety and lives of our neighbors;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Cook County mourns the loss of lives of those who have passed away due to COVID-19; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution also serve as a reminder that as our County slowly reopens, we must recognize that the health of our neighborhood, District and County is bound together.
