A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE WORK OF HAYLEY ORLINSKY
WHEREAS, Hayley Orlinsky is a 7-year old residing in Jefferson Park in the 12th District of Cook County; and
WHEREAS, Hayley spent the first days of her life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Hayley understood that due to COVID-19, hospitals were facing shortages of masks, ventilators and other supplies, and decided to help raise funds for Lurie Children’s Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Hayley enjoyed making Rainbow Loom bracelets during her time in quarantine and decided to put her talents to use by selling them to raise money for Lurie Hospital. Hayley recruited and organized friends to help make bracelets, and together they have made more than 7,000 bracelets; and
WHEREAS, in the first six (6) hours of her fundraiser, Hayley raised $1,500, which was matched by her grandparents. Her customers include Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Hamilton Chicago star Miguel Cervantes and Cook County Commissioner Bridget Degnen; and
WHEREAS, as of July 27th, Hayley raised $18,449.16 for Lurie Children’s Hospital.
WHEREAS, Hayley took the initiative make something she loved to support her community. These colorful bracelets represent the hope that we can all do something to support our front line responders, and Hayley is a reminder that each of us can support our community using our talents with modest resources. She is honored to unite people from all walks of life under one meaningful and special cause.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners recognizes the work of Hayley Orlinsky in raising money for Lurie Children’s Hospital and bringing a smile to people’s faces with her bracelets.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Hayley to celebrate her resourcefulness, tenacity and generosity.
