Summary: City of Harvey (City) residents and businesses experienced severe damage and extended power outages from the derecho storm system that swept across the northern half of the State of Illinois on August 10, 2020. In response to this incident, EMRS, IEMA, City and the District collaborated to establish the MARC. This two-day event at Thornton Township High School was organized in direct response to a formal request from the City and was driven by a concern that City residents could not access necessary governmental services during the prolonged period of power outage (upwards of 7 days). Ultimately, the MARC was designed to provided residents access to State and local governmental entities, agencies and organizations to assist the affected residents and businesses in and around the City.
