PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING SARAH’S INN
WHEREAS Sarah’s Inn provides comprehensive services for families affected by domestic violence; and
WHEREAS Sarah’s Inn was founded in 1980 by concerned women in River Forest and Oak Park, to address the lack of services for victims of domestic violence and their families; and
WHEREAS Sarah’s Inn provides holistic intervention services to adults and children impacted by domestic violence, providing them necessary supports and resources, and a safe environment to process and heal from the trauma they have experienced; and
WHEREAS, While working in partnership with local stakeholders, with education and training programs to promote appropriate community response to violence. Our legal support services help ensure that survivors of domestic violence receive equal rights and protect under the law; and
WHEREAS Sarah’s Inn is a community leader in educating children and adolescents about how to cultivate healthy relationships to prevent future violence from occurring; and
WHEREAS, The organization has since grown to become one of the largest and most comprehensive domestic violence agencies serving Chicago and 22 surrounding West Cook County suburban communities. The agency currently operates with its hub in Forest Park, and seven off-site locations through partner agencies and area courthouses throughout West Cook County; and
WHEREAS, Our mission is to improve the lives of those affect by domestic violence and to break the cycle of violence for future generations; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, hereby honor and recognize Sarah’s Inn for their contribution to the viability of Cook County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution be tendered to Sarah’s Inn as a means of communicating our appreciation.
