Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF TAMI LOVE WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom has called Tami Love from our midst on February 21, 2021 at the age of 57; and WHEREAS, Tami Love was born on March 28, 1963 in Chicago, IL; and WHEREAS, Tami Love will always be remembered as a Logan Square community organizer known for her work in the Parent Mentor Program; and WHEREAS, Tami Love empowered neighborhood families and public housing residents in the Logan Square Area for over 25 years; and WHEREAS, Tami Love joined the Logan Square Neighborhood Association (LSNA) as a parent of three children at Funston Elementary School, where she participated in the first group of parent mentors in 1995; and WHEREAS, Tami Love helped launched the first School Community Learning Center in Illinois at Funston; and WHEREAS, Tami Love was hired by Community Organizing and Family Issues where she continued to build the field of parent organizing in schools; and WHEREAS, in...

HONORING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF TAMI LOVE

WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom has called Tami Love from our midst on February 21, 2021 at the age of 57; and

WHEREAS, Tami Love was born on March 28, 1963 in Chicago, IL; and

WHEREAS, Tami Love will always be remembered as a Logan Square community organizer known for her work in the Parent Mentor Program; and

WHEREAS, Tami Love empowered neighborhood families and public housing residents in the Logan Square Area for over 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Tami Love joined the Logan Square Neighborhood Association (LSNA) as a parent of three children at Funston Elementary School, where she participated in the first group of parent mentors in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Tami Love helped launched the first School Community Learning Center in Illinois at Funston; and

WHEREAS, Tami Love was hired by Community Organizing and Family Issues where she continued to build the field of parent organizing in schools; and

WHEREAS, in 2004, Tami Love took a job at the LSNA to advocate for fair public housing on the North Side, where she fought alongside Lathrop Homes residents to preserve and protect public housing, winning unprecedented commitments from the Chicago Housing Authority; and

WHEREAS, Tami Love fought for state funding to expand the Parent Mentor Program statewide, and then mentored and coached parent mentor organizers across the state to make sure the values and heart of the work was replicated with fidelity; and

WHEREAS, Tami Love was the loving mother of three: Brandie Love Johnson, Kevin Lawson Jr., and Katrina Lawson; and grandmother of six: Brooklyn, James, Turrant, Kevin Jr., Kyrian, and Shayne; and

WHEREAS, Tami Love and her legacy will continue to be felt for generations to come. She leaves not only a family that grieves her but a community that was impacted by her contribution and convictions.
