PROPOSED RESOLUTION
SALUTES ELLA MARIE ADAMORE JEFFERSON BAGBY ORANGE AS A LIFELONG COOK COUNTY RESIDENT & A COOK COUNTY CAREER NURSE
WHEREAS, in 1938 Ella Marie began her lifelong residency here in Cook County and departed on February 2, 2021; and
WHEREAS, Ella was born on June 9, 1938 and accepted Jesus The Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young child! She was baptized at Mount Carmel CME Church; and
WHEREAS, in 1955, Ella met and married Warner Bernard Jefferson and from this union five children were born; and
WHEREAS, Ella's education began in the Englewood Community. After obtaining her GED, she witnessed many people needing medical care and therefore, turned her attention to the health field. Ella earned her LPN certification through the Chicago Public School system. Ella was among the first graduating students to receive her Nursing Degree from Kennedy King College. Ella earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Health Arts & her Masters of Science Degree from St. Francis University; and
WHEREAS, Ella and Warner relocated their family to Argo, Illinois, where they joined and worshiped at Antioch Baptist Church. In 1970 she and her five children joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago. Ella joyfully served on the Nurses and Trustees Board. She was an active participant in the Progressive Baptist State Convention; and
WHEREAS, in 1973 Ella met and married James Bagby; and
WHEREAS, Ella had a significant work history in the medical field. Ella worked for many years at Rush St. Luke's Hospital. Her expansive career included Rush Presbyterian Hospital, Chicago Department of Public Health, Cook County Core Center and the Children's Habilitation Center in Harvey, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, in 1986 while Ella was faithfully ministering to the health needs at Shiloah Baptist Church, Reverend William Orange Found her, they fell in Love and married. To this union four more children were added to their large and loving household. Toge...
