CONGRATULATING JAMES CHRISTENSEN ON HIS RETIREMENT

WHEREAS, James Christensen retired from the Winnetka Police Department on May 17, 2021 after 28 years as a law enforcement officer; and

WHEREAS, James Christensen began his career as a law enforcement officer with the Winnetka Police Department on May 17, 1993; and

WHEREAS, James Christensen was appointed to the position of Detective on November 22, 1999; and

WHEREAS, James Christensen was awarded Police Officer of the Year for 2001 and 2003; and

WHEREAS, James Christensen was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on January 1, 2002; and

WHEREAS, James Christensen was recognized for the Award of Valor in the year 2003; and

WHEREAS, James Christensen was promoted to the rank of Commander on September 22, 2006; and

WHEREAS, during his career, James Christensen served as a member of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force, served in the capacity of a Master Firearms Instructor, Certified Traffic Crash Investigator, Evidence Technician, Bicycle Team Member, Field Training Officer, Rapid Deployment Instructor, Taser Instructor, Lead Homicide Investigator, graduate of Northwestern University's Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command, graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Academy and was recognized by his superiors and the citizens he served, receiving numerous Honorable Mentions and letters of appreciation from citizens; and

WHEREAS, James Christensen served his department and community with distinction, and the people of Cook County owe him a debt of gratitude for his service.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners of Cook County does hereby offer James Christensen congratulations on his retirement and thanks him for his years of public service as a law enforcement officer; and
